Dodgeball: Good, Healthy Fun for (kind of) Grown Up Adults

To see remaining images in this gallery, click thumbnail above!When our buddy Bruce called a couple of days ago to ask if we wanted to play dodgeball, it took me (literally) 1/2 a second to scream "YES!" at the Lovely Husband from across the room. Oh yeah! Actually get away with throwing something at another living being and not get in trouble? ... all in fun, of course ... I'm all over that!
I know this makes me sound psycho-licious...
...and I’m not altogether willing to dismiss the notion, but the idea of flinging a foam-filled rubber ball and screaming “You’re out! SUCKA!” just appeals to me. Don’t judge.
I was prepared for the whopping good time and screams of delight. What I wasn't prepared for (and, quite frankly, neither was anyone else) were the 9 four-minute sets of adrenaline rush followed with bruised knees and aching shoulders. I used to be a college athlete, for Pete's sake! Full-ride-athletic-scholarship, thank you very much!
Now, however, 24 hours has passed and I feel like my thighs have been hit with a full 12,000 watts of electricity and my triceps feel like I've been doing bench presses with my Grannie's piano. All evidence of my former athletic prowess is gone, along with my ego. You laugh. I cry.
Now, in the interest of full disclosure, this was played through the Post Falls Park and Rec Department, not Coeur d'Alene. But that's neither here nor there, I'd do it again at the drop of a hat! This time, though, I'll take my 900 milligrams of Ibuprofen beforehand.

Seriously?!?! There's gonna be a league??? Oh, I'm there! Well, let's see if I'm moving tomorrow. Today has been painful. Ouch!

How totally awesome! I am sure once the word gets out, there will be a full blown league in both CDA & PF. I see future rival teams throwing it down old school style!
Sherry - You have no idea. I thought there were going to be more than a couple throw-downs. But, it was a blast!

Doug - I am involved in a league right now, but unfortunately it's too late to sign up any more teams. Contact Post Falls Park and Rec. They have things going all the time. Best of luck to you!
